Proper Care & Cleaning of Your HandScanner
How often should I clean my HandScanner?
- Grease and grime can build up quickly in food production environments. PathSpot recommends regularly wiping down the external shell and screen. The undercarriage of the device/camera should only be handled by a designated manager, and only when directed by PathSpot support. General recommendation is once a quarter.
How should I clean my HandScanner?
- For the outer shell and tablet screen, you can use an all-purpose wet wipe, or wipes containing isopropyl or ethyl alcohol.
- When cleaning the undercarriage, proceed with caution. It's best to use a microfiber cloth, and if you opt for lens wipes or alcohol wipes, ensure they donโt leave streaks. After cleaning, confirm that the lens is securely tightened (turn clockwise).
- NOTE: After cleaning, ensure the lens is securely fastened by rotating it clockwise until it is snug, but avoid over-tightening.
Is my Hand Scanner waterproof?
- The HandScanner is water-resistant, meaning it can withstand being sprayed with water (up to 60ยฐC). However, it should never be submerged or exposed to excessive moisture.
- If the device screen gets wet, wipe it down immediately with a dry cloth.
- If your facilityโs sanitation process includes foam or water sprays, we recommend moving the device out of the way during this process. If you use a waterproof cover, make sure it completely seals off the touchscreen and sensors on the bottom of the device
(see diagram on the following page).
