Care Guide for PathSpot Temperature Sensors
Your PathSpot LoRaWAN sensors are designed to withstand back-of-house operations and demanding unit conditions. However, like all electronic devices, following a few simple care guidelines will help ensure your sensor performs reliably and last for their expected shelf life (3-5 years)
Sensor Care & Installation Guidelines
1. Avoid Power Washing
High-pressure water can damage sensitive components, keep the sensor dry.
2. Do Not Submerge
Water intrusion can compromise the sensor's integrity and performance. Most important to keep dry is the humidity sensor at the top of the sensor pointed at with the white arrow.
3. Physical Protection
Place sensors in areas safe from accidental knocks or impacts.
4. Temperature Ranges
Maintain operating temperature between -40ºF and 240ºF to ensure accuracy and longevity.
5. Probe Cable Care
Ensure probe cables are not caught or pinched in doors to prevent damage. These are not required for the ambient readings to work. If an additional precision secondary reading is not needed they can be discarded
6. Gateway Placement
Mount the gateway near the Wi‑Fi access point in a dry, room‑temperature location for reliable connectivity. More details on gateway connection here.
7. Humidity Protection
In humid environments, keep the sensor’s front metal opening covered to prevent moisture damage.
8. Handling Drops
If the sensor is dropped, immediately reinstall it and press the button to reconnect to the system.
9. Lost Connection
If connection is lost:
-
HOLD the sensor’s ACT button (circled in red above) until a red light is shown (~5 second hold)
-
